Before arriving in Madrid, I was telling everybody about this longgg 19-month journey I was about to embark on. It seemed impossible that I would finally begin the lifelong dream of achieving a higher education while living abroad in one of the best cities in the world.

Now, 19 months later, it seems impossible that it has already flown by!

As you sprint from place to place, meet a million new people, endure a pandemic, beat your head against the table at the countless assignments on your agenda, you sometimes run out of time and energy to be grateful for all that you have been granted with. And how extremely lucky you are to be in the situation you’re in.

I want to thank the friends, family, team members, clients, and mentors who prepared me for this journey. The professors, faculty, and staff who worked their hardest to make our experience great during a difficult year and a half. The classmates from the MBA, the MDBI, and the MCSBT who taught me so much about the world. And finally, the amazing friends that I’ve made who I believe will remain with me for my lifetime.

I’ve noticed that if you can come away from an experience with some learnings, great friends and mentors, and just a bit more gratitude than what you came in with, you are doing just fine.

The success of an experience like the one at IE University should not be evaluated by the job you get afterwards or the salary they decide to pay you. Instead, by the different perspectives that you gathered along the way. Those perspectives are important for our well-being and understanding of the world. But even more, they are crucial for understanding ourselves.
